10am Qigong $10.00 |
Qigong (chee-gung) is the art and practice of leading, harmonizing, and cultivating ones qi within the flow of the constructs of nature. Qi can loosely be defined as the interpenetrating force that animates, interpenetrates, and comprises all living things, places, space, and time. When one forms ones self according to the constructs of nature (yin and yang/polarity), qi is invited to flow harmoniously, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine is the definition of health. The Qigong taught at Sacred Designs and Creative Healing LLC comprises of dynamic and static postures performed for extended lengths of time, and includes Waist Power Qigong, Ba Duan Jin, Nature Qigong, Wuji Hundun, and several other forms.
Contraindications and Best Practices: Qigong should not be practiced when in situations of crisis or when emotions are heightened (for example - high levels of grief after the loss of a loved one, or during an active anxiety attack) Best practices asks that you do not consume food or drink (very little if necessary) 30 minutes before or after qigong as the energy then goes to the stomach for digestion and limits the cultivation of qi. Do not practice while under the influence. This includes, but is not limited to: alcohol, cannabis, and mushrooms. The 30 minute window applies here too, post practice. Honor your body. The poses are very powerful even though they appear simple. Listen to your muscles and your energy; respect the need for breaks and modifications during your practice. When the body is not accustomed to the practice, it can cause muscle aches and soreness if you push yourself too hard - especially in the more dynamic sets - just like if you were lifting weights in the gym. |
Karate (Seidokan Karate) is on pause as we are looking for a new dojo location. Thank you for your patience.
